During Sydney’s lockdown and at 1.30am one morning, I thought to myself, 'everyone has this love for savoury dips like hummus and guacamole, but has anyone had the same feeling for or have ever even come across dessert dips?!' I wanted to be the one to change that and this is my story.
My name is Jess. I have a 9 to 5 job and I also run @_jreats on Instagram as a ‘foodie’. I am sure you’ve all heard the term, but what is it and why do I do it? I have a love and passion for food. I love new dining experiences and visiting old favourites. Since dining out disappeared due to lockdown I wondered, how could I create content and keep my page going when all I ever do is go out to eat?! That’s when I started ‘First Impressions’, an IGTV series where I try things from local, national and even international brands. For someone who's usually camera shy, I can't believe just how much I enjoy filming these episodes! I didn't want it to end there though.. I wanted more.
Over the years, I have made macarons, tempered chocolate and created 'loaded' chocolate bars and I have always had a creative background. For years, I wanted to do something for myself but whatever I did, I gave up easily and never followed through. This dessert dip idea, was the one thing that changed all of that. I wanted to bring my 'foodie' and creative side together. What you see is me. The colours, the logo, the branding. It makes me proud knowing that these desserts are a reflection of me and I am thrilled to be sharing them with you all.
